Exactly what is meant by "touching a student" It is never explained in the substitute handbooks. We cannot function in life without touching in one way or another. We touch students unintentially when we retrieve or pass out items. We touch each other in the very basic process of going through life, yet if a student claims you touched then on the hand, wrist, finger, a substitute is fired. What goes on here?

I feel the same way you do. Especially in the lower elementary grades, students come up to give hugs all during the day. It is obviously something they need and a way they express their emotions. Unfortunately, this behavior is forbidden now, but I think the subject needs to be addressed at their homes.

On last week I touched my learners with the Teacher's sub plans, my interest in the teachers plans for the day and at the end of the day I rewarded them with balloons and a story about my dad and how he loved his children into obeying him.
